Lockdown Live 3 Results
On a sunny spring afternoon Lockdown Live shooters from across the country gathered virtually to compete with each other in a 60 shot match and Final, carried out over Zoom. This was the third of the Lockdown Live events and with a good turnout in most classes the match started at 09:30 when Range Officer Peter Turner called the athletes to the line. Battling connection issues was half the story for the backroom team but these things are now part of everyone's daily experiences and the competitors did well to maintain their sang-froid.
Top qualification score for the day came from Kristian Callaghan in the Senior Men, who went on to win the Men's Final with a consistent scoring run of 10's and 9's that put him 1.9 points ahead of the second placed Matt Reed. A superb 51.5 in Toby Aberdeen's second 5 shot string was a great foundation for him to excel and take third ahead of some seasoned competitors.
Lucy Thomas qualified in first position in the Junior Women with an excellent 568 (the 3rd highest 10m qualification score of the day) but was unable to shoot the Final. So with Rebecca Carnell the uncontested winner in the Senior Women's class, but also unable to shoot in the Final, the field was left clear for the remaining Junior Women to battle it out. Once again consistency and a good start served the winner, Raissa Vickery well as she finished comfortably ahead of the last month's winner Scarlett Garner in second and Francine Gilmore in third. In the 6 yard competition Toby Meek shot an excellent 570 and is no doubt champing at the bit to get back to a 10m range.

Well done to all the competitors - virtual competitions present their own particular challenges and it was great to see the good spirit and humour of all the competitors. Many thanks to Peter Turner for filling the hybrid Jury/Qualification RO/DJ role alongside his assistant Charlie and to Oliy Tozer for running the Finals and providing background support as Zoom co-host.
